In 2012, retrofitting began at Mission San Luis Rey. This project was almost a decade in the making and after raising funds for the construction, the King of the Missions will soon be able to withstand any future earthquakes that would otherwise do some serious damage.
Oceanside has a rich history, and in 1990 hundreds of North County residents wanted to be a part of it. “Los Caballeros” Riders take a long trek on horseback to Mission San Luis Rey, culminating in a big festival.
In 2007, Mission San Luis Rey was ready for groundbreaking on a much needed renovation. In this program, KOCT’s Promise Yee spoke with the then Executive Director of the Mission, Friar James Lockman about the expansion plans.
